  • McNab Raw

Andy McNab has lived his books, if not in exact locations or time then in his past through similar actions, training and locales. His detailed description of weaponry, techniques and actions is unparalleled in modern writing. His depiction of man’s continued violence against man is both graphic and realistic in this book’s current African setting. He is not all doom and gloom as there is plenty of humour in McNab’s writing, as always, along with a spattering of love, understanding and an underlying moral code. McNab is not Hollywood action but real action. He may not be everyone’s cup of tea but he is definitely mine. ... (continue)

  • The Quest

Mr Smith has left the rails when it comes to his tried and true formula. There is still the romance, adventure, friendship, graphic horrors of Africa etc but he has delved into an almost 'Eddings' style of magic and mystery that I did not like. I did not see the need to make this book about 'Taita' and his mastery of sorcery. It just seemed a little too far fetched for my liking. However, if you picked this book up for the first time, were a fan of Eddings and Co and knew nothing of the previous books then you may like it. ... (continue)

Cover of Bad Luck and Trouble
  • Jack Reacher

This is the latest in the Jack Reacher series. He is an ex Military Cop that is now a part time drifter carrying nothing but some cash and a fold up tooth brush. Someone is killing his old team and Jack aims to find out who! This is more of the same, if you have read the other books from Lee Childs, with the no nonsense jack causing mayhem and using a sledge hammer where a feather might have done. I find it hard to put these books down as Jack, for all his Quirks and brutality, is a modern day hero! ... (continue)

A true romance through time. Audrey takes us on the journey of two people, two lovers, seemingly from different times but born only a few years apart. It is magical and tragic, thought provoking, funny, graphic, surreal. I honestly loved this and could not put it down. :)
