Continuano le avventure del piccolo apprendista mago straordinario, 7 figlio di un 7 figlio, Septimus Heap.
Septimus, Jenna e il fedele amico Beetle sono questa volta alle prese con la Ricerca (the Quest), temutissima da ogni apprendista e da ogni Mago Straordinario e, al tempo stesso, con la ricerca del fratello Nicko e dell'amica Snorri rimasti intrappolati dal libro precedente in un tempo passato.
Francamente il libro ha una fine velocissima ed un inizio troppo lento. Si arricchisce di fatti ed eventi solo verso la metà, ma quello che mi ha lasciato perplessa è proprio la fine... ma non posso raccontarvela vi rovinerei il piacere della lettura.
