I found it hard to read the pages that went on and on about the Occupation, the experiences that people had to endure in that horrible time. But the parts that were not about the Occupation in England, I found those parts highly entertaining, charming, romantic, funny and spontaneous. The book is written through corresponding mail between the characters. As I read the book I found myself falling in love with all this people, their simple lives and the beauty of the island.

The way animals behave among us has always fascinated me. I love animals in general but in particular, I love dogs. So when I noticed the title of this book it just grabbed me and I knew I had to read it. At that time I had just gotten a puppy and she was the center of my attention and had my total devotion. This book is about the thoughts the author has about how dogs behave toward us and themselves as a pack. Do they really act plainly and simply on pure instinct? This question is pondered while observing his own pack of loved dogs and his thoughts are based on his own experience and study. Many experts don't believe animals have "feelings". They don't believe they are capable of feeling love or sorrow. While there are others who believe all the contrary. In the meantime, people continue to study on this subject and many questions remain rhetorical.
