Dickens is wonderful. I am gleefully enjoying his delicious prose. What a fabulous alternative to modern fiction - even good modern fiction as I have been reading recently.

Watched the film -- extended cut, about three hours long -- which was excellent, but still felt it would work better as a novel, which it did start off as. On reading the novel expecting much elaboration, reflection and depth, I am quite disappointed. It hardly adds anything to the story above wha ... (

Very good ideas, fairly poorly constructed novel I felt, jumping from idea to idea too quickly, but generally basically satisfactory, nothing more. Maybe that's because it was his first, and he does better at others in the series.

The science part was very interesting. The fiction part was too, but not mind-blowing, in my opinion, as its reputation would suggest.

Repugnant topic but incredible novel. Very disturbing and intense in places but a thought-provoking and worthwhile read.

Blade Runner used to be one of my absolutely favourite films so I read this novel. It has some interesting ideas, but the prose became more and more weird until by the end of it I thought it was pretty random, like the writer was high when he wrote it -- years later I find maybe he was!

Read this because of the standing it was supposed to have as a work of science fiction, but it really didn't do anything for me at all.

Surprisingly philosophical, but also surprisingly brief at key points which I would have liked to have seen elaborated on more. Still, pretty thought-provoking.

In Search of Lost Time: Guermantes Way v. 3
This'll take a long time I'm guessing, especially as I think the fascinating relationship with Albertine, with which the previous volume ended, is now on pause, and I think this volume's more a general reflection on the society of his time.
