Capolavoro di Leopold Von Sacher-Masoch, il più grande interprete letterario del masochismo (che dallo scrittore ha preso il nome).
Romanzo breve e intenso, divertente e crudele. Una storia estrema, personaggi estremi che mettono a nudo, con discreta profondità, aspetti oscuri e patologici dell'amore tra uomo e donna.
Forse non proprio da quattro stelle, ma se le becca per aver ispirato a Lou Reed e ai Velvet Underground la cupissima e meravigliosa Venus in Furs, una delle canzoni più belle di quel capolavoro che è Velvet Underground e Nico.

Storia grande e moderna, rotonda, tridimensionale. Piena di gusto e profumo.
Morale finale originale e per niente scontata. Il sacrificio di molti può essere pagato per un bene superiore ed essere perciò moralmente accettabile?
Personaggi profondi, umani, inumani, sovrumani, vili e non. Un'esplorazione e una riflessione profonda sul significato e le vie che si possono percorrere dietro alla parola eroismo.
Difficile rimanere indifferenti davanti a quest'opera.
