After the first three or four chapters I was struggling, I really was. I thought that after all my trudging through most of this series I was going to end up abandoning it at the final hurdle but I persevered and I have to say it was one of the hardest things I’ve done in a while. The beginning was mind-numbingly stupid and was written so badly it’s amazing the publishers let her keep it in the book.

However, thank the book gods above, it did get better. After the initial mess up of the first few chapters the characters seem to find their feet somewhat and it becomes a little more readable. In fact there were many times in this book from that point on that I actually found that I was enjoying myself. Shocking, I know. I enjoyed the whole journey that Ever had to go on to find her eventual destiny, even though you knew what the ending was going to be about half way through the first book of the series, it was still interesting to see how she gets her eventual happy ending.

I enjoyed the flashback to their previous life and how their relationship began. It was nice to see how all the characters were always linked together somehow. I also was glad to see some resolve happen between all the previous bad guy characters and Ever. They needed closure as I always felt they were all got rid of way too quickly. Also thought her trip to the Tree of Life was okay, Rafe, Misa and Marco made it that bit more interesting.

Of course throughout this book there are parts where I actually cringed and thought to myself good God does this author ever read what she has written and not think ‘oh that sounds a little cliché maybe’? There are parts where I wanted to throw the book away and just give up, sure. But there were also parts where I thought ‘ah that clears that up abit’. So because of that I actually believe that this is one of the better Immortal Series books. It could just be because I’m so excited to be done with it though...

I really really liked this! Think this is the first time a young adult book has gripped me so much since Twilight. The characters, the storyline, the setting, everything about it I adored basically.

Ever (which by the way is one of the most original names ever((excuse the pun!))) is an interesting main character in that she isn't always completely likeable but you can't help but empathise with her at the same time. She has become an orphan and lost her sister all at once and has to deal with a new home, new school, a whole new life really. Not to mention her new pyschic abilities. Damen is instantly beautiful and gripping character too, even more so than Ever as he always seems to be trying so hard to please Ever.

The storyline is new, original and so refreshing in a young adult book. Even though I love the vampire craze taking over young adult books at the moment, this is a refreshing change on the scenario. Damen isn't a vampire, he is an immortal, which apparently is not the same thing people! He doesn't need to feed on blood to survive although he does drink a suspicious red liquid which we don't learn much about in this book so I wouldn't rule that out.

I am so intrigued about how the story is going to continue and think this is my first exciting find of 2011.

Oh well I suppose it could never truely live up to the first installment. It wasn't bad or anything but it definitely wasn't as good as Evermore. In the previous book I felt that one of the main good things about it were that the characters weren't perfect and they all had flaws. In this one the author took it a step too far in Ever's character and made her extremely annoying.

The abscence of Damen, coupled with Ever's friends Haven and Miles becoming horrible people didn't help either. By the end the only character we are dealing with is Ever which makes the situation of her becoming an annoying cow all the more detrimental to the book. Damen becoming an arrogant asshole didn't help matters either and the whole situation with him and Stacia was weird.

However it wasn't all bad, the introduction of Roman and the two twins, Romy and Rayne was interesting. The expansion on Ava's character was disappointing however, she turns out to be a lot more shallow than I expected. The plot was okay, interesting enough with the new bad guy in Roman but I hated the ending. I actually fear the next book. It could get better, I really hope so, or it could deteriorate into mindless drivel. We'll see.

This was slightly better than the horror that was Blue Moon, however it still didn't reach the heights of the first in the series. I did like the introduction of Jude who I thought was a really cool character and an interesting opponent for Damen in the quest for Ever's love. The author's description of him was just yum! Please god don't make him become a werewolf or something along those lines. Im sick of vampires and werewolves going hand-in-hand in every paranormal romance book. (Yes I realise Damen is not a vampire but you can see what I mean)

Ever is once again annoying in this book, just not to the extremes of the previous installment. Her lack of good decision-making, paranoia and self-involvement makes you want to throw a brick at her head, though much good it would do being that she's immortal and all. Also, and I promise this is the last bad thing I'll mention, Haven and Miles are also self-involved, annoying, bitchy little people aren't they? Does anyone see this other than me?

Now the good points were the aforementioned Jude, the re-introduction of the twins (love them), the interesting plot and the bad guy Roman. I may be strange in saying this but I can't help but kinda like this guy! He's fun, dangerous and sounds freaking gorgeous, what's not to like?! Maybe a darker side of Ever will emerge in later books and we might get to see some more of him (wink wink, nudge nudge)!!

This was better than the last few Immortal books in my opinion. It had a better flow and most importantly Ever got over her very annoying depression stage. From the beginning she was so negative about everything I couldn't believe the author herself couldn't see how she was killing her character's personality.

The characters in this book have been really brought along, like Jude and Ava. Im not as in love with Jude anymore, I believe he might be a little bit more sneaky than we had originally thought and Ava actually seems to be less so! Havens character is just annoying in my opinion though and I was glad she was barely in this book even though the last books ending was all centered on her. For a girl Ever claims to be her best friend, she's not and never was a very nice person. I don't get that relationship to be honest.

The plotline was good this time around with Ever being addicted to magick and whatnot. Thought her obsession with Roman was really good actually and my dark side wanted her to go through with it! I presume the next book will be about Haven's revenge which doesn't excite me really but I have to say I enjoyed reading this book which I haven't said about the Immortal series since the first installment so thats got to mean something doesn't it!

Hmm, this wasn't as bad as I actually expected. I've come to the conclusion that I'm a little OCD when it comes to finishing series that I've started as even though I have only really truely enjoyed one book in this series I find myself somehow buying and reading the fifth in the series before I know it.

However saying that, for the last few books Ever has annoyed the heck out of me but in this one she only slightly irritated me which was an improvement of sorts. And I actually liked Damen again by the end of this book. Before this instalment I was totally pro-Jude, anti-Damen. This books plotlines are dismally poor though, basically they don't really have one and looking back now I wanted to do a brief summary of what went on. Problem. Can't remember what went on. I know Haven got very bitchy and annoying and Ever acted like that was out of character for her which it actually wasn't. She's been a total bitch from the first book. Miles became a much better, more solidly decent character, as did Damen. We didn't see much of Romy and Rayne who I missed. A lot.

I think other stuff happened as well. In fact I'm nearly sure it did. I don't really care all that much though as this is probably one of the worst series to come out of the Twilight epidemic. And the little dig the author throws in about vampires? Don't knock whats made you get the publicity that you don't deserve. Again, I don't know why I'm still reading it.
