A revealing and unfortunately not surprising look at the role of religious (Christian) fundamentalism in American politics. Recommended.
I think it loses detachment and journalistic tone towards the end of the book, though Goldman made no such claim to either at the beginning.
I also expected Goldman to provide some kind of definite resolution to the battle between secularists and fundamentalists. She provides some unsatisfactory suggestions; unsatisfying because I think a central theme of the book is that there is no such resolution.
Hmmm, been awhile since Friedman started a new series, so I pounced on this one. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I think this one dragged on longer than necessary. The plot didn't plod along interminably like in Hobb's Forest Mage series, fortunately.
Fortress of Ice
I suspect a ghost-writer. The series got progressively worse with each book -- but, the first was really good so, overall, good read.
