This is the rapidly modernizing India.
Every slumdweller in Annawadi wants one of the life-changing miracles that were said to happen in the New India (from zero to hero).
I was uneasy with Katherine Boo’s English; nevertheless, I liked the book a lot and I strongly suggest to everybody wants to understand how the emerging countries are so rapidly changing. Furthermore, one billion people are slumdwellers and that number is likely to double in the next 30 years, when three quarters of humanity will live in cities.

Sales and non-sales selling are viewed under a different, attractive and instructive perspective. And they are correctly set in a remade landscape and new scenario, where a world populated with digital natives (those who scarcely remember life without the Internet) has intensified the battle for attention. That’s why the book is worth reading. I learned much over these 230 pages (just to name a few, The Strategic Mimicry and the Chameleon Effect, The promising successors of the Elevator Pitch, the Ambivert Advantage). The most valuable section of the book is Part Three (What To Do), which includes Chapter 7 on “Pitches”.
And remember,sales is about moving people.....

The author does love selling. He does have a true passion for selling, and also for writing books about selling. I think this book really helps understand if you have the basic attributes to be a successful sales man. No quick fix, no magic potion, just fundamental steps. Effective and practical approach.
This book helps you understand (but really understand) if you may be in the big club of sales people, of you are looking at your position as a job, not as a career, if you are really self-motivated.
The author is right when he says that this book is to be read and re-read. Because this is a book to be studied. And implemented.

A story of survival hard to believe. Yet, a captivating story, with a lot of zoo animals, school of flying fishes, sea turtles, dorados, whales and dolphins (by the way, an abiding interest in animals had led me to this novel). And an island as odd as sinister, covered in barren trees (but for one….) and populated by the largest meerkats colony in the world.
At last, you can get used to everything. And this is what this book is about. I do enjoyed reading of Pi and his companion Richard Parker. But despite the fascinating 227 days long adventure in the vastness of the endless ocean which are the core of the story, what I enjoyed the most is the third and final part of the book: the amazing and compelling interview of Okatoma san and Chibo san is among the funniest and most exhilarating pages I recently came across. I laughed many times while reading. And what a storytelling has turned out to be my friend Pi, a truly selective transformer of reality…
P.S. 1: I didn't feel like I was being preached.
P.S. 2: I know this is a novel and not a zoological treatise, nevertheless I do not agreed with the author when he insists along six pages (Chapter 4) on defending zoos.

Agatha Christie Reader: Witness for the Prosecution and Other Stories v.3

Four enjoyable stories (with audio CDs included). My favourites are “The Case of Perfect Maid” and the unusual “The Dressmaker’s Doll”. I didn’t know that Mrs. Christie had also published supernatural stories (and with good results). Very creepy!

Here it is, the eldest brother of Henry Chinaski. By the way, I do recommend this edition with the unmissable introduction by Charles Bukowski.

Donald Trump does believe out there is a jungle. And then you have to fight if you want to have success. He’s a tough fighter, a hard worker, always focused, so passionate about his work and when it comes to negotiation nobody can equal him. Anyway, even if you don’t want to succeed as billionaire and don’t totally agree with his values, this book have some useful and helpful tips, and it is worth a reading.
As form me, I took the book, started reading, and the lines have rolled easily across the pages. It’s been a flow.
P.S But I don’t want to become a billionaire…:-)
