A very original story -
Fascinating and gripping. The first half is a bit slow but the second half is a roller-coaster! I really enjoyed this book: it's very atmospheric as it immerses the reader in a decadent and troubled Barcelona during the civil war. I found this book fascinating as it explains a number of very important processes happening in our brain at a subconscious level which most of us have probably never thought about before.
Of particular interest is the idea that who we are is the average of our subconscious statuses over time and how these are influence by the biochemical 'soup' in our body at any one time. According to the author this way of thinking of 'who' we are has serious implications also in the legal sphere because some of our actions could be dictated by variations in the biochemical balance in our bodies at any one time.
Definitely worth reading as this is literarily a 'mind opening' book.
