I had watched and enjoyed some episodes of the TV series, and decided to give the book a try. Nice read!

I guess some read this book for inspiration on how to start a very successful business for scratch or spend one's lifetime travelling. I read it just because I was curious to know how my favorite line of guidebooks came to happen.
My curiosity has been satisfied, but what I most enjoyed in the book ... (continue ) -

Per me l'uomo inquieto è Mankell. (

(continue ) -

A children's novel set in late 1940's New Jersey. A Jewish boy and an old black man become best friends thanks to their common love of baseball and the Dodgers. A nice little book about overcoming differences - be it age, religion, colour, or whatever.

(continue ) -

Short but dense essay on sport and society, written by a man who presided both Yale and MLB. He starts from the idea that play tells more about a society or a culture than work, because almost everyone under the sun must work - that's a necessity for humankind - while there is more variety in the ways we choose to spend our free time.
It's not just about the role of baseball in American culture - as one would assume from the cover - but more generally about the role of sports from ancient Greece to modern Western society.
