Bueno, lo de este libro es completamente surrealista. Lo suyo no es perv-rating, es surrealismo puro. Y además: ODIO de todo corazón los libros paranormales con chicas que acaban metidas en psiquiátricos...

At Grave's End

Well, this is definitely going downhill. It's still funny a lot of times, but other times it's just plain boring. And, oh, all those sexist little remarks all over the books? Well, I accept them in one book, they annoy me in two books, but I absolutely dislike them in three books. Or more.

This book was the reason why I wanted to read Evermore. I hoped that Evermore would have a higher dose of the spirit in Cruel Summer (which it didn’t, but that’s not the point). Which means: the main character was a really funny girl, with an actual sense of humor, and the style was fast and, sure, funny. The ending went down, being too philosophical and corny for comfort, but the first two thirds of the book definitely made up for that.

Truth is, I couldn't stop reading it. When reading, I'm usually thinking in advance, "what's going to happen next?", and sad thing is, I'm usually right. But with Intertwined, i really WAS wondering. Truth is, I couldn't stop reading it. When reading, I'm usually thinking in advance, "what's going to happen next?", and sad thing is, I'm usually right. But with Intertwined, i really WAS wondering. What's the real connection between Aden and Mary Ann? What about the Wolf? What about the souls? What about everything else? And the love stories, while a little too shallow, were cute.
And so, I really want to know what's going to happen next, in Unraveled (coming september 2010)...

This book is the proof that the series is going downhill. Corniest as ever, the action used to be the best factor in the House of Night saga. Well, it’s not anymore. That is also going downhill, the Power Ranger-like element summoning is still ridiculous, Zoey’s harem is (finally!!) getting smaller ... (continue)

This book is the proof that the series is going downhill. Corniest as ever, the action used to be the best factor in the House of Night saga. Well, it’s not anymore. That is also going downhill, the Power Ranger-like element summoning is still ridiculous, Zoey’s harem is (finally!!) getting smaller (that’s not a bad thing, actually), and, the worst thing, Aphrodite is not a cool character anymore. She used to be great, with the right mixture of bitchyness and goodness, but right now she is (almost) as cheesy as the rest of Zoey’s friends are (which is, you know, saying a lot). The authors should be really thinking about putting an end to these books, and it’s a pity that they are planning to take the story to the infinite and beyond (13 books, you say? That’s ludicrous!!). At least the ending was kinda good (what the hell... it WAS good, period), and I hope that they will be able to use that in Burned, the book 7 in HoN, to take the quality up a notch. Which is something they really need to do.
And, by the way? The idea of changing points of view through the book? Definitely not a good idea. Specially when they forgot that Zoey’s parts were supposed to be in 1st person, and they kept them in 3rd person until they remembered to change persons a few paragraphs later, so they did it, all of a sudden. Couldn’t they correct those mistakes before actually sending the book to print? And, not to be awful or anything, but if they wanted to start making some changes in the saga, perhaps they could start thinking about an ending, too. This plot is definitely getting exhausted.

I don't want to be mean or anything, but was it hard to read this book or what. I guess the story was good, I guess the characters were okay, I guess the plot was original (quite) and the writing was good. But I just COULDN'T FIND IT IN MYSELF TO FOCUS on the book!! I felt myself drifting away ALL THE TIME. And that's something I never do!! I had to go back a few pages over and over again, to remember where exactly I was. Sometimes I was really proud of myself, because I was so focused on the book, but after a few minutes I would realize that, what the hell, I was so busy congratulating myself that I had forgotten to pay attention to the book. Again.
So I didn't exactly dislike it, but I didn't really get into it, either, and it was a challenge to read it. Actually, there were so many details and tangents, that I'm not sure I would have been able to follow the plot continuously even if I was focused. And, by the way, chapters are great inventions, you know. For people who can't read all the book at once, who I guess is everyone.
