I made it through about 150 pages before I gave up, so I gave it a fair chance, but all I kept thinking was why am I wasting my time with this when there so many other books I could be reading!

Synopsis:
When Eva’s filmstar sister Katrina dies, she leaves California and returns to Trelowarth, Cornwall , where they spent their childhood summers, to scatter Katrina’s ashes and in doing so return her to the place where she belongs.
But Eva must also confront the ghosts from her own past, as well as those from a time long before her own. For the house where she so often stayed as a child is home not only to her old friends the Halletts, but also to the people who had lived there in the eighteenth century. When Eva finally accepts that she is able to slip between centuries and see and talk to the inhabitants from hundreds of years ago, she soon finds herself falling for Daniel Butler, a man who lived – and died – long before she herself was born.

This book is a must read. It's really hard to imagine a world like this. Don't get me wrong, I'm not naive and I know it happened all the time, but to trust a person to raise your children and cook your food but not let them use the same bathroom or go to the same library or eat in the same diner just doesn't make sense to me. The Help opens your eyes just that little bit more to how life was.
Synopsis

Hi Bobbi!! I'm very happy to hear from you! :o) I've been buying so many books lately (in Italian) that I've left aside the In Death series for a little while...I still have to read book n°8, "Conspiracy in Death", but I've already bought them till "Reunion in Death"... Too many intriguing new releases to resist! :oP I'm sure that they were published years and years ago in English! I'm also very excited for next week's release in Italian of "An echo in the bone" by my beloved Diana Gabaldon...I've been waiting for it for 2 years! I saw you gave it 5 stars so it must be a great book...I had no doubts about that! :oD Unfortunately here it will be divided in two parts, one coming out next week and the other in September...It's not fair!! :o(
