“中國香港”這個概念很少出現在香港的話語中，因為香港的主流敍事要麼從西方看香港，要麼在香港看香港，或者從香港看中國，很少從中國看香港。如果有，也往往從歷史上的中國，而非從當下的中國或未來的中國看香港。殖民地不僅意味着領土的割佔，也意味着由此造成的心靈割佔，而心靈割佔導致自我認同的變化慢慢地將領土的割佔正當化了。在這個過程中，文化與政治交織在一起，牽動了香港故事中的悲歡離合。
