呂大樂說：「本書分為兩個主要部份：前部份是《唔該，埋單》的原稿，後面新寫了一則後記〈有落，後數〉，只加入了一篇新寫的文章，作為對「後九七」的補充。一如以往，這是一份筆記。我會承認，回歸十年所發生的很多事情，是(我敢說，大部份香港人)始料未及的。那不是因為我對九七回歸抱樂觀主義，以致出現錯誤的評估(事實上，剛好相反，我是悲觀主義者。從這個角度來看，今天香港的狀況已較我原來想像中的好多了)，而是香港社會──制度與價值系統──較我預期的脆弱。如果九七前的香港故事不易講，那麼九七後的香港故事不知從何說起。」
