Book Description

I knew nothing about the book or the film before. But I decided to buy this book after seeing the pictures -- reminded me of my experience in Mongolia, where 40% of the people are nomads. It's a great and interesting book about the life of the simple and friendly nomads in Mongolia. The author, as well as the director, is a monogolian who studied film in Germany. Thus, she demonstrated the contrast between the nomadic life and the civilised city life in this book. I like the part she wrote about the slaughtering of goats. To us, the mongolian way was very cruel and inhumane. But after knowing their rationale and beliefs behind, it seems that the western "painless" way of slaughtering is more cold and cruel....... (though I definitely agree that the animals suffer from far too much pain if there were killed by mongolians.....)
