However, I still remember de Botton's keen observation and unique perspective (or even solution to status anxiety) in this book. I especially like how he could bring literature, philosophy, music, and other disciplines into one entity.

This book won't help you with your status anxiety but could serve as an introduction to how (Western) civilization has handled this issue, interesting. I often skipped the parts where Alain tries to talk his reader out of the anxiety over status.
