  Based on this book's title, I had two expectations: 1. Original text and "translated" text side-by-side; 2. The significance of the wealth of knowledge embodied in the original text (for example how a specific industry benefited from the author's sharing of knowledge through 天工開物). However, this book has neither. It is basically a description of what was in the original book, without offering much context or analysis of the significance of the author's insights. It is more like a laundry list of superficially discussed technologies that does nothing to help the audience appreciates 天工開物. This book has found a very interesting premise but failed to exploit it.
