For someone who grows up reading newspaper for the info on Mao, which varied from the god to devil, this is a most important key giving the human side of this important person. The book is very genuine. But something of special remark. Mao demoed the most classical Snake year character, as someone also of snake, I can accurately guess and predict what Mao will do and talk to Dr Li. Also, it told us how bad was the medical standard then in china, looking at how Mao was managed and the inexperience of the medical staff with resuscitation. It is obviously bad for medical skill to be the family physician of a single person. One cannot improve his skill, except for understanding of a single individual.
Mao always recommends Dream of Red Chamber to Li . It already taught us, how important human politics is more important than the Art of War in the Palace, remembering how many of our famous generals, SunTzu,WuTzu,HanXin etc while invincible in the battle field , were defeated or killed in the palace politics.
