我很高興，終於寫出一部描寫中國大陸的小說，去思考中國的一部大戲。
中國崛起就是一場大戲。

　　我的小說《盛世》，潛台詞是個疑問句：很可能這樣一種形態的盛世將是中國的現實，中國人特別是知識分子該如何自處？

　　中國複雜的矛盾，社會都在不斷變化，如何評價，眾說紛紜，這次用小說寫，把年代更往後推一點，因為今天發生的情況，在過幾年就會看的更清楚了。可以同時說出各種不同的聲音，讓讀者自己作出體會和判斷。

　　老陳是一個在香港出生，曾來台灣就學，後赴紐約工作，中年以後居住北京的作家。隨著與一個生長背景複雜、出走後又輾轉回到北京生活的方草地，和一個狀似失心瘋、天天上網找人吵架、和政府站在對立面的老陳舊愛小希（韋希紅）二個舊識，在二○一三年的新中國不期而遇後，當老陳身邊的所有友人，都沉浸在一片「嗨賴賴」（hi- lite- lite）、自我感覺良好的「幸福感」之中時，老陳、方草地、小希三人如何尋找「中國的盛世之謎」？

　　消失的一個月？！是怎樣的陰謀，讓這個月的人民記憶全部被抹除？「一個失眠的國家領導人」被迫道出黨國如何製造真正的「盛世真相」？讓人民面對極端的恐懼，渴求國家機器的保護，便真的能諦造「盛世」嗎？真正的盛世，到底隱藏了多少欺騙、壓迫與謊言！

　　《盛世》是一部勇於挑戰中國禁忌話題，且預言「未來新中國」的寓言小說。二０一三年的中國進入「盛世」期後令人嘆為觀止：全民喜氣洋洋，自由信教，家暴和自殺率劇降……，全國一片太平盛世。小說機鋒處處的描寫，揭櫫中國崛起的遷異萬象，而中國在冷戰終結的二十餘年後的二０一三年，逐步邁入「盛世」之態勢，以經濟崛起頂替了軍事強權的主導。《盛世》為讀者預見了二０一三年中國諸多蛻變的曖昧性，以及對於文學、歷史、政治、經濟、言論自由、宗教信仰等事件的揭露與嘲諷。

　　當所有預言家急迫諭示世人，「二０一二」年世界即將面臨毀滅之際，作家陳冠中的寓言小說卻弔詭的反其道預言－－「二０一三」年將是中國「盛世」的到來！

作者簡介

陳冠中

　　原籍寧波，上海出生，香港長大，曾住台北六年，現居北京。

　　就讀香港大學和波士頓大學，修社會學、政治學和傳播學。綠色力量、綠田園有機農場等發起人，現任綠色和平國際董事。

　　1976年創辦香港《號外》雜誌，並曾在九○年代中任北京《讀書》月刊海外出版人。參與創辦台灣《超級電視台》和大陸《三聯生活週刊》、《大地唱片》、《現代人報》等項目。

　　著有《馬克思主義與文學批評》(1982)、《太陽膏的夢》(1984)、《總統的故事》(1996)、《什麼都沒有發生》(1999)、《半唐番城市筆記》(2000)、《香港未完成的實驗》(2001)、《香港三部曲》(2004)、《我這一代香港人》(2005)、《移動的邊界》(2005)、《事後：本土文化誌》(2007)、《城市九章》(2007)。

It was a really good book, and very interesting in the early part, and it probably went very well all the way but the ending is a bumper! Entertaining ..but scary

It is an intertesting read - first I thought it is autobiography, then realised it is not.
The part about how China could emerge a great power is intriguing and very imaginative - an autocratic government can justify anything and deny people's right to know. It made me realise I cannot live in Chin ... (continue)

It is an intertesting read - first I thought it is autobiography, then realised it is not.
The part about how China could emerge a great power is intriguing and very imaginative - an autocratic government can justify anything and deny people's right to know. It made me realise I cannot live in China as I would not survive ..
The book is also entertaining apart from the serious stuff...
