    This book is for individuals who want to start their own business but don't know where to start. For company marketers and brand managers - look elsewhere.

    This book convinces you to start using the Internet to build your personal (and thus your business) brand just as Purple Cow, New Edition: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable (by Seth Godin) convinces marketers to channel mass media marketing budget to building a remarkable product - they both are mentality-changing kind of book, instead of a step-by-step how-to guide.

    In a nutshell, you build your personal brand around your passion and that passion will eventually become your business - you can make money out of it. This is how you go about doing it:

    1. Find your passion - things that keep you awake in the middle of the night and get you get of bed in the morning, things that you know better than others.

    2. Create content - put your passion into material form - blog it, build a website, tweet it, make videos and place them on Youtube etc. Make sure every platform you use are connected so that synergy could happen amoung them. For example, when you post a new entry to your blog, alert people by sending a tweet and a facebook update.

    3. Join and more importantly, contribute to communities that are related to your passion. Leave thoughtful comments and by doing so, attract eyeballs to your blog.

    4. Gradually build a meaningful presence on those community and see visitors to your blog grow.

    5. Make money by placing relevant Ads, partnering with affiliates or selling stuff in your blog/ website.

    For those of you who are not convinced that social media could help you grow your business - this is the perfect book for you.

    However, for those who are already using those platforms and wish to know how to maximize returns from them - look elsewhere. Suggested titles are: Get Content Get Customers: Turn Prospects into Buyers with Content Marketing; Inbound Marketing: Get Found Using Google, Social Media, and Blogs. Feel free to read my reviews on these 2 titles.
