Quante volte ho letto questo libro? Tante. Ce l'avevo in traduzione da bambina, poi l'ho preso in prestito in una biblioteca americana, e infine l'ho comprato in edizione economica Penguin (non questa, un'altra, collana per ragazzi).

Quante volte ho letto questo libro? Tante. Ce l'avevo in traduzione da bambina, poi l'ho preso in prestito in una biblioteca americana, e infine l'ho comprato in edizione economica Penguin (non questa, un'altra, collana per ragazzi).
Un libro bellissimo e magico, sulla forza della vita e della natura, la necessità di crearsi uno spazio autonomo, e il desiderio d'amore che è dentro ognuno di noi. Anche e soprattutto chi non è mai stato amato.

It is very touching to see that the main charactors came alive with the secret garden. I feel that some dead part inside me came alive too. This is an excellent book for both children and adult.

Un giardino segreto tutto per sè..

Devo dire in anticipo che è stata la mia prima lettura in lingua originale e che il dialetto dello Yorkshire non è poi così difficile come sempra a primo acchito.
Durante la lettura mi è venuto in mente un libro di Virginia Woolf, "Una stanza tutta per sè". E' davvero un grande classico per l'infan ... (continue)

Devo dire in anticipo che è stata la mia prima lettura in lingua originale e che il dialetto dello Yorkshire non è poi così difficile come sempra a primo acchito.
Durante la lettura mi è venuto in mente un libro di Virginia Woolf, "Una stanza tutta per sè". E' davvero un grande classico per l'infanzia e anche un bel libro da leggere anche più in là con gli anni. La trama mi ricordava tanto un cartone animato che è stato messo in onda più di 10 anni fa, che non vedo da tempi immemori, e che mi ha spinto a leggere il libro.
E' molto diverso però (non alludo al film perchè non ne ho un chiaro ricordo!)..
F. H. Burnett narra la storia di una bambina indiana, Mary, rimasta orfana dopo un'epidemia di colera e "adottata" da un suo ricco zio inglese, Archibald Craven, che lei vedrà di rado. L'avventura si snoda tra le mura e i giardini di Misselthwaite Manor dopo il viaggio che la piccola compie in compagnia di Mrs. Medlock. Questa ragazzina di 10 anni farà un cambiamento mozzafiato che la porterà ad essere non solo bella ma anche una bambina non più sola, lasciata a se stessa ed egoista, ma aperta al mondo e alla vita, all'amicizia e al volere il bene non solo per se stessa ma anche per le persone che le stanno intorno. In breve impara come vivere insieme a persone che ti vogliono davvero bene sia la sola cosa che non si può nè comprare nè avere a priori. Una storia davvero bellissima, che cambierà la vita non solo della protagonista ma anche delle persone che ora si trovano a stare in sua compagnia.
Una piccola perla adorabile della letteratura inglese.

not the best book i've read, but it is a classic for a reason
