The #1 bestselling phenomenon continues in the eighth Stephanie Plum novel. The stakes get higher, the crimes get nastier, the chases get faster, and the men get hotter.

This time Stephanie, Morelli, Ranger. Lula, Valerie, and Grandma Mazur are strapped in for the ride of their lives. Stephanie is hired to find a missing child. But things aren't always as they seem and Stephanie must determine if she's working for the right side of the law. Plus, there's the Morelli question: can a Jersey girl keep her head on straight when more than just bullets are aimed for her heart? And with the Plum and Morelli relationship looking rocky, is it time for Ranger to move in for the kill? Janet Evanovich's latest thriller proves that Hard Eight will never be enough.

My Review: Hard Eight is another great audiobook by Janet Evanovich. Evanovich’s main character in this series, Stephanie Plum is an accident waiting to happen. As mentioned in previous reviews of this series, Stephanie is a former lingerie buyer that fell on hard times and took a job working for her cousin as a bounty hunter. She’s not the greatest bounty hunter, that’s for sure, but she’s definitely the most entertaining.

In Hard Eight, Stephanie finds herself helping her parent’s neighbor, Mabel. Mabel is heartbroken that she can’t get a hold of her granddaughter Evelyn and Evelyn’s daughter, Annie Soder. After a recent divorce from her husband Steven, Evelyn life has been bumpy and now she’s missing.

Stephanie follows Evelyn all over the “burg” and Trenton, trying to find her and Annie or a reason why she’s hiding. Between Stephanie and her normal crew of Lula, Ranger and Joe Morelli, things get interesting. Let’s not forget Evelyn’s divorce attorney, Albert Kloughn. Kloughn is another hilarious character and really added to the dynamics between the bunch.

Kloughn becomes more of a player in the story when he helps Stephanie try to bring in Andy Bender, a FTA. Kloughn ends up with a broken nose and two black eyes. He’s a real sight, but still continues to beg Steph to tag along on her adventures.

In the end… Kloughn hooks up with Valarie, Stephanie’s sister after a strange turn of events. Especially since Kloughn resembles the Pillsbury Doughboy. Oh and remember that “debt” that Stephanie owes Ranger… He cashes in!

I’m not sure where I stand with Stephanie’s relationships… and at this point, the audiobook doesn’t steer us in either direction. I still have a soft spot in my heart for Morelli… and I really want to see him and Stephanie together. Then again, Ranger, the superhero, is a close second.

This audiobook is amazing… Steph’s car gets blown up by a bear, she is stalked and attacked by a rabbit and dead president’s make an appearance. I’m tellin’ ya, I love Evanovich’s mind. I found myself laughing out loud many, many times!

Narrator Review: Lorelei King is awesome. She never disappoints and gives the characters such distinct voices. I love her enthusiasm and the personality she puts behind every character.
