Meyer has a way of writing that allows me to picture the characters and their relationships perfectly, without using too much detail into the love life, or sexual life of the two main characters

It was nice to see a different twist on vampires than I normally run into. Glad to see something outside of the dark worshiping, bat loving creatures of the night.

I'm not all that fond of the typical 'fell madly in love and can't stand to be away one moment' type of thing, but it didn't ruin the story for me.

I'm glad my friend made me read this one. It's well written, and I enjoy the story. Now I'll just have to read the rest of them...

When Isabella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets the mysterious, alluring Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret.
What Bella doesn’t realize is the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk. And, it might be too late to turn back. . . .
Deeply seductive and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight will have readers riveted right until the very last page is turned.

I agree with one of the reviewers below: Bella does get annoying fast. However, other aspects of the book make up for it - such as the likability of the vampire characters, the author's spot-on descriptions of high schoolers, and the subtle yet effective injection of sexual tension throughout the story.

After running out of my own books to read, I finally gave in and read Twilight. Okay, I love it. The characters are so powerful you almost think they are real. Who wouldn't want an Edward in their life? ;)

I enjoyed reading this book but I would never recommend it to anyone else. I'm very embarrassed I enjoyed it and I'd consider it a very guilty pleasure. Bella gets annoying fast with her "I love him but I can't have him" routine. Also annoying is the fact that she is supposedly so plain, but suddenly has a billion teenage boys swooning over her. Pretty lame. But again, a guilty pleasure :D

It’s taken me a long time to get around to reading this series, & know I regret waiting so long. I’ve never been one for young adult novels, always finding them to juvenile, with just mushy kisses & no storyline, but I must say this series blew them all out of the water. Bella May be a high school student, & Edward may have to act like a high school boy, instead of a decades old vampire, but they are both wise beyond their years. This book was quite fun, with just a hint of high school drama. I would suggest these books to anyone, I’m starting the second book now, I can’t wait to see who Bella’s relationship with the vampire family progresses, & if Edward will bend to Bella’s will & make her immortal.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I knew that this was popular with the young adults from my time at Borders, and now I know why. The romance between Edward and Bella is just very well written. Meyer did a wonderful job creating her characters and making the audience really care what happens to them. As for a vampire story, it was very interesting her version of the vampire lore. The notion that it is venom that causes vampires to be made instead of just a bite is very interesting. Actually, I found most of her "rules" to be interesting. I am excited to read the next installments to see what is in store for these characters.

    • My wife read this book first, and loved it. I read it after her, and while I loved the last 1/4 of the book, the rest of the book focused on Bella's feelings and emotions. I assume she enjoyed that a lot more than I did, but towards the end once the action picked-up, I couldn't put it down.

After reading Kristin Hannah's _On Mystic Lake_ years ago I decided I wanted to live in Washington State, and after much research, had settled on Forks, WA as the optimal place. In the Banana Belt of the state, it was supposed to be great weather for WA, among other things.

It's pretty funny to run into it now in a book, and have it painted in such a non-optimal light.
