Another favorite of mine. This work was recently adapted for television in the UK (sadly, unavailable on region 1 dvd), but it's easy to see why. One of the more accessible books for a Discworld neophyte, Pratchett takes on the holidays - and faith and religion, to boot - with his characteristic charm and wit. Uproariously funny, "The Hogfather" is a parody of holiday commercialism in our modern world.
