  First of all, Armand is one of my favourite characters. The way he showed himself in the first two books was utterly fascinating and captivating. Second, I'm confused why some people complain about the sexuality and erotic scenes with young boys. It may not fit to our culture but it should be remembered that times were different then and this book was about that time also.

  Now, I don't know what went wrong but I didn't get the same feeling from this Armand's autobiography. Though I liked the descriptive writing the story bored me every once in a while. There was something missing and it's a real shame. I wanted to weep for Armand and become hooked to his life but it did the complete opposite.

  I always found Armand an interesting and complex character and after capturing a glimpse of his history in The Vampire Lestat I wanted to know more about him.

  When I found out The Vampire Armand I began to read it as soon as I could and loved it, from the dark snowy lanscape of Russia to the colourful rich surroundings of Venice with Marius, to the dark catacombs of Rome and Paris and finally to modern day New York where Armand went into the sun, but through is strength managed to survive and was saved by Sybelle and Benji who are later turned by Marius as a gift to Armand to his fear that in the end the pupil turns on the master and beings to hate them.

  Unlike some the inclusion of sexual relationship between men and teenage boys did not effect me as taking into account of the historical setting it was not uncommon at the time for men to take in teenage boys to nurture them and form some sort of relationship. After all it is well known to have occurred during the time of the Roman and Greeks, one needs to take into account the period in history when these events happened.

  It was okay. Longer than Pandora, but just more "fluff". Maybe I just can't relate to Armand as well as some of the other vampires.
