You don't need to read The Boy Next Door, however, some of the characters are the same and it adds to the fun if you have read it. Cabbot writes an entertaining novel about love and work using letters, journal entries and emails. I can't wait to see if she does more with the characters at the The New York Journal.I would definately recommend this to others.
