Quite gruesome at times (not for the squeamish).
Well paced, psychological thriller.
That villain you love to hate (or just love. =D).
Not a "cozy" or "lazy" read, it engages the mind.
The sequel is, arguably, even better (if slightly more trying where the "back story" is concerned).
