One of the most beloved novels of our time, Richard Adams's Watership Down takes us to a world we have never truly seen: to the remarkable life that teems in the fields, forests and riverbanks far beyond our cities and towns. It is a powerful saga of courage, leadership and survival; an epic tale of a hardy band of adventurers forced to flee the destruction of their fragile community...and their trials and triumphs in the face of extraordinary adversity as they pursue a glorious dream called "home."

Watership Down is a remarkable tale of exile and survival, of heroism and leadership...the epic novel of a group of adventurers who desert their doomed city, and venture forth against all odds on a quest for a new home, a sturdier future,

My favourite book ever. I've read it at least 15 times (first in Italian then in English), and every single time there is something new in there, something I hadn't noticed, and every time I get lost in the rabbits' world, in their habits, in their fears and needs...

A vivid tale of rabbits finding a new life for themselves.

I had not read this book in school - although I know many who did - so I was pleasantly surprised at how well it was written, and even enjoyable for someone twice as old as a high schooler.

There are segments of "over-wording," where the details are piled on and described for pages at a time, but overall the story flows very well. At times you are in the rabbits' world, sensing their fear and excitement as though you were there.

A long read, but well worth the effort in the end.

Unbelievable! You keep forgetting the main characters are rabbits, even though the author keeps reminding us by alluding to their habits and behaviors. One of my all-time favorites!
