What a disappointment!
Here I was all eager to embark myself on this so very, very appraised Stephen King just to find myself unbelievably disappointed! The story has no sense and there's absolutely nothing to love with the whole bunch of characters.
But I've decided not to give up on Mr. King...I've already added ot ... (continue)Niamh said on Jan 5, 2008 | Add your feedback

Kef, Ka and Ka-tet
I didn't think it would be so nice to read the Gunslinger after have read the italian version more than 10 times... I waited many years before picking up the dark tower saga. And I am happy I did it, because honestly, had I read this book 20 years ago, I would have probably not bought the second...
I know, some of my friends are telling me to hold on, and carry on reading. And King himself admitted in the introduction to the new edition that the first book was far from perfect.
But I was still surprised at how FAR, really really far, from perfect this book is. Especially compared to all the other books by King I have read. Honestly, not a good start. Maybe the saga will get better in the next books. But I am holding on only in light of the other stuff King wrote. Not because I was impressed by this first book...
