    • Letto insieme al resto della trilogia solo dopo aver visto i film di Jackson. Affascinante.

I have previously read the Lord of the Rings saga before and as before I absolutely loved it! JRR Tolkien is just a master of fantasy! He has created this complete world down to the very minutest detail that just completely astounds me. To think that one man could invent an entire world complete with new animal and plant species is just unbelievable!
When I compare the books to the films I find that they are one of the only story's that translate well to screen.
If I have one flaw to point out its that of Frodo's character. Bilbo was a brave, funny and cheeky character but Frodo just bores me silly, in both the books and the films. In the films I want to kill him but I can tolerate him in the books. However they are still an amazing series of books and are definitely classics!!

This book is definitely for those whom are very patient. It can be slow at times, particularly the beginning, but the rewards are worth it. There were some instances were I would be thinking, "Why didn't they put this part in?" or "When do we finally get to this part from the movie?"

For how much I loved this book, I have to say, I wasn't in a hurry to read the second. I truly believe because at times, this book is work to read, like a textbook, and that can be daunting to the casual reader.

Book Description

In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, as told in THE HOBBIT. In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.
