Could somebody explain me how did it come this book being the original basis for S.A.T.C. tv-series?

The only thing I can think while reading it is "How boring can be life in New York, lived in this non-sense way?".

The TV series are definitely better than the book. Sorry to say that the book makes me disappointed. The contents are empty. The book is all about easy sex, sex and only sex, nothing else. After flipping few pages, I feel bored. Not interesting at all.

    Disappointed

I am definitely a fan of the TV series, which I've probably seen a million times along with the movies. I have to say that this is probably one of the very few cases in which the screenplay is much better than the book, which is not as original as the series was.

Even the characters are not as strongly defined as they are in the TV version.

I can't believe this is the book which inspired the famous TV series of the same name.
I'm a huge fan of SATC: I watched (and re-watched) all the episodes of the 6 seasons and the 2 movies too. I love Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda and I've always envied their close friendship, which has lasted for years.
But reading this book was a bitter disappointment to me.
Above all, there's no trace of their friendship: the characters who bear the names Charlotte York, Miranda Hobbes and Samantha Jones are minor. Their lives are separeted and there's no connection among them.
Do you remember what Samantha says in "SACT 2 - The movie"? She tells the other girls: "We made a deal ages ago, men, babies, doesn't matter; we're soul mates."
    Well, forget it!

And Carrie. Omigod! She's so shallow! She's all about boys, booze and partying. She acts like she doesn't give a damn about anything and anyone, even about friends and Mr. Big. I can't stand her at all. As Mr. Big says in the book, she's like a cyborg or something.

Now let's go back to TV series. It's so much better!
