Hamlet's Father
Orson Scott Card has rewritten Hamlet. The back of this slim novella boasts that once we have read this "revelatory version of the Hamlet story, Shakespeare's play will be much more fun to watch—because now you'll know what's really going on." The au ... (read full critics)

Masterpiece
How to combine in a brilliant way sharp intelligence, keen irony and sublime poetry. I envy a lot who could personally meet Shakespeare.

Of COURSE I was forced to read this for an exam...
...who'd tackle Hamlet on their own? But after you understand all the references and the vertigo-inducing wordplays, reading it in one go is a terrific experience: rhythm (yes, five hours on stage, but five gripping hours), irony, pathos, huge depths. No movie version ever came near.

It's a thriller about a man who plots to avenge his father's murder, it's a terrifying ghost story, it's a tale of political intrigue, love, lust, betrayal and death and it's so much more - Shakespeare's greatest hero ultimately finds that his greatest adversary is himself as he has to confront the ... Bill Shakespeare's my very favourite
Great, wonderful, amazing Hamlet. Among all of Shakespeare's plays, I think this is the most human and enjoyble one. I love Hamlet's self confidence in facing his dilemmas. Which is very dicotomic. One again, kudos for Shakespeare. I just can't stop crying everytime I read this.

'Hamlet' at the Young Vic: a chilling mix of '1984' and 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest' starring Michael Sheen
I went to see the show on Wednesday evening. This meant queuing up at the Young Vic at 9.30am to purchase my tickets (I cycled 6 miles in the rain to get there, that's what I call dedication) and then returning at 7pm that night to see the performanc ... (read full critics)
