the multi-personality is a self-protection mechanism that our mind will create for us; instead of being a disease, it's in fact what makes us live more healthier. at least i think so. and that's why i'm so fascinated by this book.

A fantastic beginning, but the parts at the end lost me...

國中就知道這本書，一直沒有拿來看，結果我妹買了。
雖然大家常常會開玩笑說自己有多重人格，但我真的是看書後才了解所謂多重人格是什麼，是很可憐的，好像一個人的心靈被撕碎成好幾片般，殘破不堪。看這本書好像在看奇幻小說一樣，太不真實了。故事的結局是悲哀的，不禁想痛罵社會大眾，政府官員，到底在想什麼?為什麼要如此傷害一個人，多麼愚蠢無知啊!他也曾經是個受害者，也是這個該死社會的產物啊!(最近性暴力之防治講很多，性侵害對受害者的影響，所以特別瞭解 XD)
不過，這是所謂讀者的憐憫吧!試想，有一位強暴殺人犯在你周圍，就算他有再怎麼值得同情的理由，你不會怕嗎?恩...社會是自私的。(無奈)

據說是美國俄亥俄州的真實故事。有一位叫比利的青年, 患上了人格分裂症, 證實總共有24個不同人格。那些不同的人格各有不同的特質/長項 (醫學, 畫畫, 打鼓, 電子, 逃脫等等), 不同的言語、信仰甚至年紀。例如阿瑟負責邏輯, 雷根負責保護弱小, 大衛負責承受傷害, 阿倫負責對外溝通, 阿達娜做家務等。他們當中有善良的有犯罪傾向的, 有知道其他人格存在也有不知道的。
故事始於比利被控搶劫及強暴罪。依靠當時還未廣泛被了解的人格分裂作為抗辯, 加上幾位有名的心理學家作證,比利得以免除坐牢。隨後他被安排到健康中心接受心理治療, 利用認知和對話, 促進了不同人格之間的溝通, 也了解到比利 ... (continue)

故事始於比利被控搶劫及強暴罪。依靠當時還未廣泛被了解的人格分裂作為抗辯, 加上幾位有名的心理學家作證,比利得以免除坐牢。隨後他被安排到健康中心接受心理治療, 利用認知和對話, 促進了不同人格之間的溝通, 也了解到比利兒時受到虐待的家庭背景。在雅典心理健康中心郭大衛醫師的治療下, 本來人格轉換的密度已大大減少, 漸漸融合成一個單一的人格「老師」；可是由於傳媒和議員的批評, 不但自由度高的治療方式被迫中止, 連帶在該中心生活也被質疑, 結果在政治和輿論壓迫下, 比利被送到跟監獄無異的利瑪醫院。那裡以精神病罪犯為主, 戒備森嚴, 也沒有治療可言。最後, 比利的人格再度分裂, 甚至有些人格已經自我放棄了。有那樣的病比利也不想的, 更受到那樣的對待和歧視, 他實在是無可奈何地可憐。
依我看, 人格分裂最大的問題是人格之間失去互相的記憶, 甲做了的乙不會知道, 會掉失了時間。這樣對當時人造成很大的困擾, 另一人格犯下的罪行, 比利不但無法控制, 卻要他去承受結果甚至懲罰, 失去了實際上也是精神上的寶貴自由。
　
「哪一項比較重要？─ 提升我們的精神層次還是表達我們的情感？或許這個問題不恰當, 因為你是冷血動物；或許藉著壓抑自己的感情, 對一切講求邏輯的你, 可以成為一位擁有高生產力的傑出人士。但是, 當你對任何人都不再有任何價值時, 你就會變得很孤獨！」

The book is written mostly from Billy's point of view and the author's tone showed he stood on Billy's side.
The most amazing part is to find such many personalities inside of a person, if everything described truthfully. It is just like several souls are forced to squeeze in one little body. What's more interesting is whether those children inside Billy would grow up and where the foreigners come from. Is there any scientific explanation to the puzzles?
