At last, Ayn Rand's masterpiece is available to her millions of loyal readers in trade paperback.

With this acclaimed work and its immortal query, "Who is John Galt?", Ayn Rand found the perfect artistic form to express her vision of existence. Atlas Shrugged made Rand not only one of the most popular novelists of the century, but one of its most influential thinkers.

Atlas Shrugged is the astounding story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world--and did. Tremendous in scope, breathtaking in its suspense, Atlas Shrugged stretches the boundaries further than any book you have ever read. It is a mystery, not about the murder of a man's body, but about the murder--and rebirth--of man's spirit.

* Atlas Shrugged is the "second most influential book for Americans today" after the Bible, according to a joint survey conducted by the Library of Congress and the Book of the Month Club

Although the characters can feel like caricatures at times, this book changed the way that I think in many respects and has been a great motivator in my research, particularly when times are tough. One of my favorite books and would be included on any trip to a desert island.

Stunning . A page - turner that also makes you think about society , man , relationships and political issues . A novel that deserves all the hype surrounding it.

I have heard about Ayn Rand for a long time and usually in association with the genre Steampunk. Since my novel The Quest for the Last Crimefighter became available at Lulu.com and is in the Steampunk genre, I figured I owed it to myself to finally read the work of the woman said to have been the inspiration for it. Atlas Shrugged is a large, well all right, a huge book that is intimidating when seen. I picked up the 50th Anniversary copy, which is really the 35th Anniversary edition re-issued. From the first page, her words caught me up in a descriptive world like I've never read before. The way she brings the smallest things to life with her words is refreshing and absolutely astounding to read. The thought she had put into her every thought and then into this book, leaves nothing to the imagination except to picture the world she has created and it is breath-taking when you do. Take the time to read Atlas Shrugged, read it slowly, get every word and become a fan of Ayn Rand.
