A dazzling novel in the most untraditional fashion, this is the remarkable story of Henry DeTamble, a dashing, adventuresome librarian who travels involuntarily through time, and Clare Abshire, an artist whose life takes a natural sequential course. Henry and Clare's passionate love affair endures across a sea of time and captures the two lovers in an impossibly romantic trap, and it is Audrey Niffenegger's cinematic storytelling that makes the novel's unconventional chronology so vibrantly triumphant.

An enchanting debut and a spellbinding tale of fate and belief in the bonds of love, The Time Traveler's Wife is destined to captivate readers for years to come.

The ingenious writing reminds me one of my favorite movies "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind".

There were times when I just wanted to stop reading. The book starts well with an intriguing idea, Henry is a man who time travels and jumps around in time who falls in love with a Clare. My main problem with the book was that other than the time traveling, there isn't much else interesting about Henry, and I never got why Clare fell so madly in love with him. It was kind of like watching a romantic comedy where the two leads have no chemistry.

Things picked up for the last 100 or so pages, and I found myself quite emotionally involved with what was going to happen (what the reader KNEW was going to happen but still had to read along to find out exactly HOW). The author does a excellent job of working Henry and Clare's individual timelines together, but for a bulk of the book I just didn't care what happened to either of them.

It can get confusing if you don't pay attention, you need to be focused or you'll loose track and miss the essence of this beautiful novel.

  • The Time Traveler’s Wife
... (continue)

    在最後一頁,當Clair 82歲與42歲的亨利相遇時,Clair 以 “He is coming, and I am here.”

I reflect miserably that whatever went wrong, it just had to go that way, and sooner or later it will right itself.

I never anticipated giving this book four stars. In fact, at about the 200th page, I wasn't even sure that I would continue through to the end. I would have been so disappointed! This story is the closest I have ever come to science fiction and truly become immersed in it. Of course, it is actually a highly elaborate love story, but the author swings wide open the doors of her imagination and the love story emerges to transcend all time. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad............the characters live out events that incompass the breadth of human emotions. Only a small fraction of us will ever encounter such a magnificent love. Very poignant. It is well worth reading!
