  • Longish, but a masterpiece of the genre

    Mistry's previous novel, 'A very fine balance', was a great insight into the lives of people living in Mumbai (Bombay). This takes a similar, but distinct slant, tracking the shenanigans within a family with a complex history channeling Ibsen.

    Mistry's previous novel, 'A very fine balance', was a great insight into the lives of people living in Mumbai (Bombay). This takes a similar, but distinct slant, tracking the shenanigans within a family with a complex history channeling Ibsen.

    Great observations, with well drawn characters, the story provides another rich tapestry of the culture and society of modern India.

    Recommended, though its a bit long, and the story only just lasts as long as the book ;)

  • I loved this book

    Family matters is the story of a Parsi family set in Mumbai, India but it is not just about them. It is also the story of Bombay and the spirit and strength of people there. A great read.
