  Due to personal reason, I re-read it in 2006. Still capture the very nature of totalitarianism and the claims come to its truest moment ever in history. Striking, stunning, we should bear this masterpiece in mind as the surveillance it has mentioned become much easier with the help of foreign technology. And for the ruling power -- it's all about capitalism, you know.

  1984 is not a prophecy (I do believe and hope) but a representation of what hunger for power and lies can do when brought to their extremes.
  Orwell's dystopia is fascinating because most of it is a picture - though an impossibly excessive one - of what world and politics really are.

  1984-G.Orwell-Il globo è diviso in tre grandi superstati,Oceania,Eurasia ed Estasia.Winston vive a Londra capitale dell'Oceania in cui vige il Socing,il socialismo inglese che tutto vede,tutto controlla attraverso l'occhio vigile del Grande Fratello.Questo totalitarismo sfrenato,portato al limite è basato su un unico slogan:"La guerra è pace"-"La libertà è schiavitù"-"L'ignoranza è forza".Winston Smith insieme alla sua compagna Julia sono gli unici ad avere ancora un minimo di umanità e a contrapporsi alle regole ferree del socing.Ma pagheranno questo a caro prezzo.
  Libro molto particolare di non facile lettura ma che ti trascina in un vortice buio,nevrotico,claustrofobico.
  Penso che questo libro non possa mancare nella cultura di un vero lettore.

  Sabes que está ahí pero lo dejas pasar, hasta que de repente, un día te pones con él y te das cuenta de que ese era el momento adecuado. Cuando vas a poder entender, si no todas, al menos muchas de sus influencias y lecturas.

  Sabes que está ahí pero lo dejas pasar, hasta que de repente, un día te pones con él y te das cuenta de que ese era el momento adecuado. Cuando vas a poder entender, si no todas, al menos muchas de sus influencias y lecturas.
  1984 ha sido ese libro para mí, una obra terrible, estremecedora, pero a la vez llena de significado. De referencia para cualquiera interesado en política, sociología, economía, psicología...

  Se c'è un libro che corrisponde alla definizione di "IL ROMANZO DEL '900", quello è 1984.

  Una lettura semplicemente imprescindibile, uno spartiacque nello stesso concetto di romanzo. Nonostante siano passati più di sessant'anni dalla sua pubblicazione.

  Un libro terribile e agghiante.
  Un libro così potente che non ha previsto il futuro, è riuscito persino a plasmarlo.

  Detto questo, George Orwell è un sessista di merda.
