  Bloody Filler

  I don't know if Ms. Harris was a little tired after all the effort she put into the first 4 books but book 5 in the Stackhouse series reads like a drawn out afterthought; a little nonsensical and very often dull.   I don't know if Ms. Harris was a little tired after all the effort she put into the first 4 books but book 5 in the Stackhouse series reads like a drawn out afterthought; a little nonsensical and very often dull. In Doornail there is a sniper on the loose taking out members of the supernatural world. Sookie endures the usual litany of sticky situations and mortal injuries but this time around the story is extremely diluted with pointless commentary and insufferable podunk metaphors ("my face burned like a pack of fire ants"). Cue the banjo.
  Furthermore, this book is somewhat hard to follow. Many of the pivotal characters are people/things that have never before been referenced and there are times when the dialogue is completely without context; "I turned to Maryelizabeth and her daughter and thanked them for the glass of water. Maryelizabeth gave me a hostile look and said to her daughter `We should've never sent you to school'". What? What does that have to do with anything? I very often read after I've had a couple (six) glasses of wine but I have a pretty good recollection of the major action items in this story and Maryelizabeth's daughter's education had nothing to do with anything and while we're at it, who the hell is Maryelizabeth?
  I mean, I'm going to continue reading the series (if anything it makes the HBO series more fun to watch) but I sincerely hope later stories have a little more umph.

  I think all of her books are quite good as in plot but when it comes to editing...i am quite sure she would be better of hiring someone else. So many mistakes an international book shouldn't have.   I think all of her books are quite good as in plot but when it comes to editing...i am quite sure she would be better of hiring someone else. So many mistakes an international book shouldn't have. Like Presents the came from birthday and then the next book she says it was for Christmas. I'm reading them at a pace of one a day....and i get frustrated when she contradict herself.

  Go Eric...

  Once again another brilliant addition to the Sookie Stackhouse series! This was a bit more about shifters than vampires but this didn't take from the books at all in fact it makes them all the more interesting. In every book you learn of more supernatural creatures lurking in the background.

  Once again another brilliant addition to the Sookie Stackhouse series! This was a bit more about shifters than vampires but this didn't take from the books at all in fact it makes them all the more interesting. In every book you learn of more supernatural creatures lurking in the background.

  The vampire characters are still my favourite by far. I did miss Eric in this book as we didn't see too much of him or Bill for that matter. I was kind of hoping that Sookie might have got with Alcide but by the end of the book that looks like it will never happen. Sookie has so many willing suitors now it's hard for me to make my mind up which one I prefer never mind Sookie herself!! Im still leaning towards Eric, definitely don't like Bill no more and Alcide wasn't as nice in this book either. Haven't seen enough of Calvin Norris to fully decide on him. Go Eric, I say!

  When I had this book on my hands and started to read it, I thought it was going to be the best of Sookie Stackhouse series. Despite of all the good opinions and anything else, I was totally wrong.

  In my opinion, and among the first and the fourth book, Club Dead was the most boring and uninteresting book. In Dead to The World, the thing and the story in general had improved. But now... What the hell! Mrs. Harris could've written something so much better. She'd created a very structured story 'till the fouth book, but now I'm wondering: What happened?

  A third of the book is based on the story, the rest is just PAGES and PAGES of ordinary stuff. And the reunion on the end of the book was so null...

  Something's telling me "Definitely Dead" is even more boring than this book. I will read it anyways...
