    In a graphical manner, this book tells you the history of Iran as well as the life of Iranian people in the past few decades. You will also learn about the almost epic, yet remarkably true, story of Marjane the author. All readers will come to love this capable, daring and outspoken heroine after reading the book. At first I found the history and politics part too heavy, but the author has infused the stories with so much humour that I enjoyed them more and more as I read.

    Fascinating, moving and brilliantly drawn. Of extra interest to me as my first boyfriend and his family were in Tehran at the time this story takes place.

  • simply a masterpiece!!!

    Everybody should read this book. Expecially in this time, of racism and intollerance...
    The book gives you a picture of Iran but not only; it is a book about rebellion, ideals to fight for...it makes you cry, laugh...it makes you think.
    I loved the grandmother's quotes...

    Persepolis is a great autobiographical graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi and it is an outstanding portrait of the recent Iran’s history. We can really learn a lot about Iran as for “common people‘s life and thought”. Certainly, she is the daughter of rich bourgeois intellectuals as I don’t think it is common to be able to send your daughter to study in Europe.
    Nonetheless the novel is a must to be read to know and understand a bit more about such a far and complicated country.
