這是一間活脫是從狄更斯書裡頭蹦出來的可愛鋪子。
店外陳列了幾架書，開門進去前，我先站在外頭假裝隨意翻閱幾本書，好讓自己看起來像是若無其事地逛書店。一走進店內，暄囂全被關在門外。一陣古書的陳舊氣味撲鼻而來。我實在不知該怎麼形容：那是一種混雜著黴味兒、長年積塵的氣息，加上牆壁、地板散發的木頭香........店內左手邊有張書桌，坐著一位年約五十、長著一只霍加斯式鼻子的男士。他站起身來，操著北方口音對我說：「日安。」我回答說我只是隨意逛逛，而他則有禮地說：「請。」
極目所見全是書架－高聳直扺到天花板的深色的古老書架，橡木架面經過漫長歲月的洗禮，雖已褪色仍逕放光芒。接著是擺放畫片的專區：另一邊還放著幾疊迷人的古舊畫刊......
