  • Some might argue this follows in the footsteps of "The Broker", boiling down to just a list of fine Italian food, wines and places to visit. But there's a difference - the story here is plausible.

I'm not into American football, but have been part of the "small but loyal base of fans" (quoting the book) of Italian baseball since mid 1980s. The environment is just the same, Italian amateurs playing with foreign professionals who couldn't find a job in better-paying leagues. Several scenes or characters Grisham put in the book remind me of events or people I have seen or heard of over the years.

  • Now! Recommended for any american football fan who likes a good story. And Grisham can certainly write a good story.

  • Charming, I loved the descriptions of the food...was lost in the football LOL. But the story is so truly Italian that it made me smile

  • Grisham can do better!!!

Love the ending of the book but the story develop so slowly and with a very predictable plot. For hardcore fan of JG like myself it is a major let down. He needs to stick to his core competence and this is not what I call a classic Grisham. Please do not try again!

  • The book was slow in the beginning, but it did pick up in the middle. It was a good coming of age story, but I think that it would only appeal to a certain audience.
