It took me at least three to four attempts before I would start reading this book; I enjoyed very much the Shannara's saga and I was worried it would ruin my memories.
But I've been aching to know what was before since when I stumbled in that chapter - of one of the Shannara's books, I can't recall which one - where the action was inside one of the OLD World cities.
So eventually I took my chance and started reading this, and I'm happy I did it.
I won't make any comparison with the Shannara's former books as I read them too long ago; however, this Armageddon's Children works pretty well and I'm happy to be allowed to read about fantasy placed in a well known context instead of in a imaginary land, world and time.
There is one problem only: like many authors nowadays do, here also the writer ends the book abruptly on the verge of at least three or even four crucial events; don't make the mistake of not having the follow-up ready at hand when about to finish this one.

    Enjoy!

  • The Old Shannara universe emerging into the modern world??? AWESOME! To appreciate this, read all other Shannara books first, and I suppose it would be good to read the Knight of the Word series too, although I haven't read that yet.

  • Just couldn't get into it, maybe will revisit in a different frame of mind. Not so into the post apocalyptic scenarios..
