本書構想起源於約一百年前法國插畫家與雕刻家身份兼具的Henri Riviere所畫的《Les 36 Vues de la tour Eiffel》，而他的靈感則是源自一百七十多年前日本浮世繪版畫大師葛飾北齋（Katsushika Hokusai）之名作「富嶽三十六景」。
不同於這兩部作品的是，作者所描繪的是現代巴黎的景象，用細緻的繪畫手法，勾勒出巴黎各處街景的不同面貌，透露出大城市裡的人際疏離，流洩出豐富的人文色彩。內頁的編排上，右頁呈現全景彩圖，左頁則以黑白素描手稿凸顯圖像局部細節，並標出該景點的所在位置，如：塞納河左岸、巴爾扎克故居、協和廣場、小咖啡館、書店……等等，而翻看整本 Continue
