I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to read, yet involved with unexpected twists and turns and significant character development. It was well written.
The story revolves around a police investigation into the death of a young girl in the woods (not gruesome in the details since it's not so much about the crime). One of the police investigators was the sole survivor on an attack of three children in the woods 20 years earlier and cannot remember anything about the events of that day--he is the narrator and the story is really his journey.
Very enjoyable but takes a little time to warm up. Well worth the effort.
