La bancapresta denaro ai più poveri tra i poveri, a coloro che non hanno nulla daoffrire in garanzia e quindi sono respinti dagli altri istituti di credito.Grazie alla sua politica del microcredito a tassi bonificati, centinaia dimigliaia di persone si sono affrancate dall'usura e hanno gradualmenteallargato la loro base economica. Il tasso di restituzione alla Grameen è dioltre il 90 per cento.
