    An important book on globalization. The episodes are so fascinating that you'll agree he's "got the best job of the world." You may say that he's magnifying the exceptions or extreme examples that he has the priviledge to observe. But that's probably out of neccessity as he attempts to paint a convincing picture of the future by picking up bits from today. In that regard, he's done an excellent job.

  • Inspiring, leads to a lot of thinking. But repeating the same message over and over again using 500 pages is a bit crazy. This book should only need 300 pages given its actual content.

    下次揀本薄一點來看...

    這本書頭200頁, 除了引言外, 便提及作者認為令世界更平的10 種力量.

    Flattener 1至3 構建了世界是平的基礎, 其餘6 / 7個, 可以說是首三個的應用或是伸延.

    嗨...終於把 Flattener 5 至 10 看完, 即現在才看了200頁, 大概還有400多頁.

    這本書頭200頁, 除了引言外, 便提及作者認為令世界更平的10 種力量.

    Flattener 1至3 構建了世界是平的基礎, 其餘6 / 7個, 可以說是首三個的應用或是伸延.

    作者分類10 種力量時是很有技巧. 他是從人們如何互動與連繫作為敍事角度, 而不是某一項科技革新或是專指某一家公司.

    這令到本書內容的壽命可以延長更久, 例如首三種力量 :

    栢林圍牆倒下, 推使人們跨地區與跨國溝通便易, 也可以泛指是國際意識堡壘形態的寛鬆.

    網景上巿日標誌人們互連踏入新里程, 一眾簡便的瀏覽工具讓互聯網進入大眾化年代

    共同標準的資訊交流工作平台, 令人們簡化溝通與互動的程序和略過兼容性問題, 並令原本小眾的巿場和商機, 擴大至有利好圖

    緊接7個力量uploading, outsourcing, offshoring, supply chaining, insourcing, in-forming , the steroids 則是上述三者的基礎上伸延.

    讀到這裡, 我不禁想提出一個問題, " 為甚麼美國會是世界是平的帶領者?"

    我聯想到社會文化, 法律, 經濟規模以及創意等.

    若沒有反壟斷法, 我懷疑現在還會不會有 Firefox 和iMac.

    若沒有社會文化, 人們怎會把自己的知識放上網共享互助呢?

    若沒有一定經濟規模與容許跨境營運, 怎可把很小的商機集腋成裘呢?

    若沒有容許創意環境, 怎會有那麼人想去創業, 100個裡有1個終於搞出成績創造出新東西呢?

    若沒有良好的社會保障與法律知識產權制度, 人們又怎肯去take risk 去搞搞震呢?

    在這10種力量後, 仍是處處可見這些詞彙包含的精神精髓形蹤.

    這些都不是局限於作者界定的Globalization 3.0才出現.

    一個國家, 要從globalization 3.0 這個金字塔階梯上移,

    不甘心於一世做世界工廠, 美國人的IT 後勤部,

    所要走的路確是很遠很遠.
