  A masterpiece. Amazing plot, masterfully written.
  This Scarlett was even better than the Vivien Leigh's; stubborn and a bit too straightforward....she can't understand Ashey when he talks about his meaning of life. But she's so fascinating...so tied with Tara, she conveys a joy for living and a mental energy that surprised me. Nothing can bring her down. She knows she can face it all, tomorrow.
  Now that I've done reading this book, I feel lost without them.
  I'm gonna miss Scarlett so much.

  I began reading it circumspectly, because I thought it was just a huge romance novel, but I was very pleased to find it a fascinating historical novel. The author draws a set of characters who, depending on the way they face their postwar life , are winners or losers . Owning the "gumption"is what makes the difference: no hurdle can dishearten who is gifted with it. Scarlett, Rhett, but Melanie also have got it. The characters, their personality and their lives, reminded me a lot of Thackeray's .

  The romantic in me hated this book. I cried for Rhett and Scarlett at the end and their utter ruin. I vehemently want to rate down this book but just can't do it. The depth of the characters, the equisite descriptions, and my utter love and despair for these characters won't let me do it.
  It makes you think of the choices people make, things we so easily take for granted. I admired Scarlett almost all the way through for her strength, and willingness to stick to her true self.
  Rhett and Scarlett kept me on baited breath, staying up past 1 am and still I found myself forcing myself to put this story down, to forget about them for just a few hours. These characters are forever etched into your hearts and minds and it takes such a superior writer to capture such an amazing story even if the outcome wasn't what I was hoping for, this story is truly a classic of the highest proportions. I wish I hadn't of taken so long to finally pick this one up.

  "Gone with the Wind" Is a novel that everyone knows what is it about. The thing that not everyone knows is that the author of this book had an extraordinary gift for makng accurate and vivid descriptions of landscapes and environments. What makes this book not only good but also a classic is that it doesn't matter where you are from or how old you are, if you make the connection with this author (and she will connect with you if you let her) you will enjoy the weather, the colors, the sounds, the smell and the beauty of the landscape; and will suffer with the horror of war, hunger and desesperate and hopeless love. I liked this novel because unlike the tipical romantic tale, it shows the real evolution of a human being that grows tired of trying to educate a child in order to make a good woman out of her. This book is good because it makes the connection, and it is a wonderful example on how to write with empathy for our readers; not by simply asking "what do the readers want to read" but rather asking "how can I transmmit this to the readers, so they can feel what the characters are feelint"

  Very first book that I feel in love with - I have read this 5 times. I had the book in Middle school, but couldn't get past the first 20 pages or so....That is the slowest part of the entire book!

  Very first book that I feel in love with - I have read this 5 times. I had the book in Middle school, but couldn't get past the first 20 pages or so....That is the slowest part of the entire book!

  But once that hurdle is past, the story line is really very engaging. & while it isn't concidered a literary classic, it is much much better writen than any of the modern day historical novels.
