Vivian Gandillon relishes the change, the sweet, fierce ache that carries her from girl to wolf.  At sixteen, she is beautiful and strong, and all the young wolves are on her tail.  But Vivian still grieves for her dead father; her pack remains leaderless and in disarray, and she feels lost in the suburbs of Maryland.  She longs for a normal life.  But what is normal for a werewolf?

Then Vivian falls in love with a human, a meat-boy.  Aiden is kind and gentle, a welcome relief from the squabbling pack.  He's fascinated by magic, and Vivian longs to reveal herself to him.  Surely he would understand her and delight in the wonder of her dual nature, not fear her as an ordinary human would.

Vivian's divided loyalties are strained further when a brutal murder threatens to expose the pack.  Moving between two worlds, she does not seem to belong in either.  What is she really--human or beast?  Which tastes sweeter--blood or chocolate?

After seeing the movie I knew I had to read the book and from page one I found it to be NOTHING like the book! I was a little uneasy about going on to finish it but I had worked up such an...appetite, if you will, to read Blood and Chocolate that I made myself finish it. After a few chapters it really started getting good and I completely forgot about the movie and became totally capivated in the novel. I love the ending, it was completely unexpected. I was just very surprised at how much I ended up enjoying it. If you do read this book you must keep the story line in the movie totally separate. Though they are similar they both are very different.

To find the true love in the pack is not simple...

There would be a lot of things to say on this urban fantasy story, first among all Aidens that he has not loved Vivian and she has had an ugly reaction a this truth. There is Gabriel, that of book appear for love her to the end and he would want to bring her to the "normalcy". In fec I have always thought that she would have chosen Gabriel (he is magnificent!!). In this novel there are desire, adolescence and a slice of healthy realism (if so it can be defined!). Annette Curtis Klause didn't believe in the "impossible and happy" love between Vivian and Aiden, although she did it believe... and to the end Gabriel is the true love of girl.

In my opinion this is a marvelous novel, because it is rich of action, murderes and other more. The language is directed, concise and in the dialogues speaked by teen-agers there is vein of their "slang" for make real all (slang full of swear words, to intend us...), the history of Klause leaves hope to our Vivian who believe in her true love, she hope that with Gabriel she can live without pain.

A urban fantasy novel based on the life of lycanthropes that you can't to lose!!

    5/5

The pack has lost its leader and when it chooses another, she is chosen as his mate. The problem is she is in love with a meat-boy. The emotional love story ends with a great showdown. Perfect book for young adult readers with an interest in the supernatural world of vampires, werewolves and witches.

  • I am in love with this novel and the concept of Loup-Garoux. It took me a while to track it down because there's an adaptation of the novel based on the film, but I'm glad I found it. I've re-read it countless times.

  • Blood and Chocolate

This paranormal romance story is more raw than most other offerings of the genre.
