Life at Hogwarts
This is my favorite book of the series. Some people complain that not much action happens in OOTP, but I like it for that reason. We get a complete look at student life at Hogwarts. We're taken on a journey with Harry, rather than having the "quest" introduced early on. It's the first time that we s ... (continue)

I've just realized I haven't written a single word about my favourite book in the series!

I've just realized I haven't written a single word about my favourite book in the series!
This can't be!
Well, I LOVED this 5th novel. Much more than the third, every one's favourite.
Why? Because never before in the previous books the difference between good and evil was so crystal clear. People are now forced to decide whether they want to step into action and fight for the right cause or just wait to see what happens.
The war begins and everyone is called to fight: whole families (like the Weasleys) know that each and one of them is in danger for fighting for what they believe in, but nonetheless they accept what must be done. I felt the pain and the tears of Mrs Weasley as if they were my own, she's just a mother whose children are growing up too early because of this war. Just like other mothers did during other wars.
This is a dark and sad book, where the characters are constantly proven and challenged, and not always they do what's best (Percy for instance, or Sirius who pays for his attitude toward Kreacher)
And I did love Neville.
He's the most outstanding character in both the fifth and seventh novel. He reveals - to himself and to all the others - to be a real Gryffindor; he's just a boy who still needs the love of his parents, but at the same time he's got the courage to be a right man, to face reality and decide which side is his.
The whole St Mungo's part touched me incredibly, and I have to admit I found myself crying without even realizing it.
The whole book was such an intense experience for me, something I hadn't expect to feel reading a Harry Potter's book.
I have been wanting to re-read this book for years, I will probably do it now that the series is complete. I know it will not disappointed me.
