    Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
    Who is already sick and pale with grief
    That thou, her maid, art far more fair than she.

    ~Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs;
    Being purg'd, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes;
    Being vex'd, a sea nourish'd with lovers' tears.

    L'amore è una nebbia che si forma col vapore dei sospiri:
    se si dirada, diventa un fuoco sfavillante negli occhi degli amanti;
    se s'addensa, un oceano gonfio delle loro lacrime.
    [Romeo, I, i]

    ~These violent delights have violent ends
    And in their triumph die like fire and powder,
    Which as they kiss consume.

    Queste gioie violente hanno fini violente.
    Muoiono nel loro trionfo, come la polvere da sparo e il fuoco,
    che si consumano al primo bacio.
    [Frate Lorenzo, II, vi]

    ~Why rail'st thou on thy birth, the heaven and earth?
    Since birth, and heaven, and earth all three do meet
    I three at once; which thou at once wouldst lose.

    Perchè maledici la tua nascita, il cielo e la terra?
    Forse perchè nascita, cielo e terra
    tutti e tre in un solo istante si sono incontrati in te,
    tu in un solo istante tutti e tre li vuoi perdere?
    [Frate Lorenzo, III, iii]

    ~I must be gone and live, or stay and die.
    Debbo andarmene e vivere, oppure restare e morire.
    [Romeo, III, v]

    ~Then, window, let day in and let life out.
    Allora, finestra, fa entrare il giorno e uscire la vita.
    [Giulietta, III, v]

    ~In one little body
    Thou counterfeits a bark, a sea, a wind.
    For still thy eyes, which I may call the sea,
    Do ebb and flow with tears. The bark thy body is,
    Sailing in this salt flood, the winds thy sighs,
    Who raging with thy tears and they with them,
    Without a sudden calm will overset
    Thy tempest-tossed body.

    In un piccolo corpo fingi d'essere
    barca, mare e vento.
    Nei tuoi occhi, che chiamerò il mare,
    c'è ancora flusso e riflusso di lacrime.
    Il tuo corpo è barca, che veleggia in questo mare salato,
    e i tuoi sospiri sono i venti,
    che infuriano con le tue lacrime, e queste contro i venti,
    travolgeranno il tuo corpo scosso dalla tempesta.
    [Capuleti, III, v]

    And yet I wish but for the thing I have.
    My bounty is as boundless as the sea,
    My love as deep: the more I give to thee
    The more I have
    , for both are infinite.

    Giulietta, atto II, scena II

  • O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?
    Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
    Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love
    And I'll no longer be a Capulet.

    O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?
    Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
    Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love
    And I'll no longer be a Capulet.
    'Tis but thy name that is my enemy:
    Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
    What's Montague? It is nor hand nor foot,
    Nor arm nor face, nor any other part
    Belonging to a man. O be some other name!
    What's in a name? That which we call a rose
    By any other word would smell as sweet;
    So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,
    Retain that dear perfection which he owes
    Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
    and for thy name, which is no part of thee,
    Take all myself.

    Sarà anche la scena più famosa, ma l'atto del balcone è qualcosa di unico! Le dichiarazioni, l'amore che c'è tra questi due giovani ragazzi, le parole, i sentimenti, i sospiri... Bello!
    Romeo&Giulietta è l'opera di Shakespeare che preferisco, questa tragedia romantica caratterizzata da una serie di sfortunate coincidenze... 4 stelline ben meritate!
